Within The Australian Government–The Asia Foundation Partnership, Community Members Interested (COMMITTED) with the support of Bikas Udhyami, have developed 22 basic municipal profiles. These basic profiles were developed using existing government data that came out from the Government of Nepal’s 2011 Census survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) as well as local government data collected from the 22 municipalities.
In partnership and in consultation with the municipality, basic profiles were constructed using evidence-based data analysis and visualizations to represent performance snapshots. These provide a strategic overview of the municipality that helps newly elected leaders get an immediate understanding on the status of essential public services of certain devolved sectors. The basic municipal profiles are an important step that helps to establish a benchmark on progress over time and will serve to improve decision-making around priorities. Along with this data, the overview delivers accurate and critical information on the restructured boundaries that help define clear jurisdictions and mandates for service delivery in the new local context.
As part of the partnerships support, the basic municipal profiles in the form of flex charts have been provided to all 22 municipalities with additional charts made available to their respective wards.
